After-School Programs
After school programs are an opportunity for students to socialize across grades through mutual interests. After care meets in the LGA library and provides time for games, homework, reading or outside play. Electives are specific classes, which run weekly and change from term to term. Electives are taught by LGA faculty, LGA parents and other community members.
After Care: Monday – Fridays from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. (4 p.m. on Fridays in the winter months). Children are supervised and the time is structured to include board games, crafts, free playtime, choice time, and homework / reading time.
Electives: Monday –Thursdays from 3:20 – 4:30 p.m. Each session is approximately seven weeks long with five sessions per academic year. Classes run weekly and vary from session to session. Past classes included: chorus, sports games, musical theater, working with clay and ultimate frisbee. Prices vary. Sign-ups and payment are required ahead of time.
Additional after care options: Half-day and full-day care is offered when there is no school for Professional Development days and Parent Teacher Conferences. The half-day childcare takes place at school. Full day childcare usually involves outings to various local attractions, which have included bowling, trips to local museums, Legoland, The Ecotarium, Sturbridge Village, Springfield Museums, and the movies.
